How to DECREASE lag for Minecraft 1.6.1
So, here is how I decreased lag for MC 1.6.1
On your new launcher click edit profile >> Check JVM Arguments >> delete the code in the new box that just opened, and type in -Xmx3G -Xms3G (copy and paste that)>> Save profile
Have fun!
- Pease
(sorry if it off topic.)
this worked for me, lets see if it worked for you!
Tell me if so!

just remember that what you are doing is increasing the heap space for the JVM as well as setting its starting allocation of ram. the issue you will now have is when the memory space is filled the garbage collect process will take longer and use more resources to process, potentially actually causing worse lag than you are trying to fix.

for an unmodded/default texture minecraft that amount of ram is extremely excessive.
-Xmx1024mb -Xms1400mb would be better, simply adding more ram to minecraft doesn't necessarily mean less lag. It may help depending on the situation but it's more so a question of cpu power.
Anyway that guide should help out some people.

Many people don't have computers that have 5G so 3G will be better since most computer nowadays have that.

the -Xmx means the Maximum ram.
-Xms means the Minimum.
-Xms means the Minimum.
