How to use forge AND optifine?

I've been playing with mods (with forge, obviously.) and I want to get better FPS with optifine, but whatever way I try, I cant seem to make them work together.
The installers make new profiles for the launcher so I cant just install forge to optifine/vice versa!
Could the smart, helpful members of PMC help? Please?

Do you use any other mods like the ShadersMod Core?
If so be sure to use Optifine D1 (nothing else)

Yep. Still didn't work.

Have you tried putting the Optifine jar file into the mods folder?
