So, sometimes soon I may be purchasing a new laptop. I know that Desktops are much better for gaming, but due to certain circumstances I can only get a laptop.
I'm looking for a good laptop, that I plan to use to play games like Minecraft/Garrys mod, and a few other games on. I will have $400-600 to spend and maybe a little more. If you have any suggestions or know of a good laptop let me know
What it must have;
At LEAST 6GB RAM
At least a 2GHz Intel CPU. (Preferably Intel)
Optional requirement;
I'd like to be able to run GTAV at 25+ frames. I understand this isn't easy given my price but it is an optional requirement.
My goal is to be able to play Minecraft with 50+ frames constantly. Thanks for the read ya'll.

Son. Just get a macbook

I don't think you have looked at this entire thread and people have said that a mac costs way more than the OP's price range.

^
I'm not a fan of Macs. The goal of this thread was to help me find a low-price, decent laptop that could run Minecraft, GTAV, and a few other games decently. I'm 16, and can't get a job, so money isn't easy for me to come by. The cheaper the better, for me.

Buy a 400 dollar Asus. What I've been using for a year now.
1
Get the refurbished Lenovo. The GPU core is stronger and it uses GDDR5 memory as opposed to the 940M's DDR3, which boosts performance by a lot. I'm talking night and day kind of memory bandwidth differences - I've seen 50+ GB/s bandwidth differences between two variants of the same GPU, one with DDR3 and one with GDDR5 memory.
1
The lenovo seems like a clear choice - I only have one concern. The RAM. Will not having the ability to boost from 8GB to 16GB hinder my gaming at all? I intend for this to be a replacement to a PS4, and want to be playing things like GTAV, Minecraft, The Elder Scrolls, etc etc. I know it won't run them maxed out, but that's fine.
1
What do you mean? That laptop supports up to 16 GB RAM just fine.
1
Oh. Didn't realize that o.e I'm not too familiar with upgrading laptops in any way whatsoever xP
1
I've had 8gb for almost 2 years and I have never used anywhere near all of it (other than playing ARMA III while hosting an arma 3 server and having lots of chrome tabs open looking at scripts for said arma server) so you should be fine
1
Oh, sweet. This Lenovo seems about perfect! Thanks for the help, ya'll.

That looks fantastic! Now, would that be better than the following laptop - performance wise?

If you're willing to spend a bit extra, lenovo's currently got a sale on their gaming laptops. Here's a link for ya: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/le ... 9:00013DE0:

Those computers are awesome, and I would love to have one. However, I won't have the money for them before the sale ends. Whichever PC I go for will more than likely not be purchased for 3-5 weeks.

Bump, I suppose.
1
i suggest a mac, they arent really gaming computers i know but they are so darn fast!
1
Really...? He said he wanted to play GTA V. Which from what I've seen is a really good looking (graphics wise) game. Macs are slow. I can't run Chrome with 50 tabs open. Sheesh. (jk) But they aren't what @OP wants and is WAY over the budget.
1
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not a mac fan.

>400-600 budget
>recommends Mac
OP doesn't have room in the budget for a $1000 laptop

Any opinions on these laptops? Which is better?

I recommend getting that one from amazon.

I'll probably be going with this Lenovo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
1
The Acer Aspire one looks good. You are going to want some type of dedicated graphics card before even thinking about running GTA
1
DEFINETLYYY the second one. The amazon one. Your gonna be able to play gta 5 at medium or low settings. Not 60 fps though. Probably not much higher than 1366*768 resolution
1
If I could play GTAV on low/medium with 25+ frames, I would be happy. I'm hoping to get one of these laptops instead of a PS4 - and it will be used for gaming, though sadly I can't afford anything like a Razer.

One more optional requirement;
I'd like to be able to play GTAV (even on minimum settings) at 25+ frames. I know this is a bit demanding for the price, but this one is optional.

Hmm, interesting suggestions. I found this laptop - What do ya'll think about it, for the price? I'd be willing to drop the dough for this one, if it'd be able to do what I ask (should).

Edit;
I spoke with my mother a bit more(she's the one who will primarily be paying for it, I'm only 16), and it's preferable to come from http://www.qvc.com/ or http://www.hsn.com/ for various financial reasons. Sorry for such the specific requirements.

Goes way over OP's budget

Wow, the laptop was $350 when I listed it.
Go with the laptop with the 940M in it, though.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I'm unsure if I'd be able to actually take apart the laptop. Never done that before o.o First time for everything, I suppose.
1
Most laptops I've taken apart the ram is simple to install. Just a couple of screws on the back and you get the ram slots. SSD's may require a bit more skill to find the hard drive area. Really depending on the laptop.
