Ive only gotten 3 virus-type programs on my Windows 8, Outdated Norton Protected, Laptop PC from 2012.
The first virus was from be being stupid on the ininternet, the second was just adware, and the third one was Trusted Installer. My dad got rid of the first one and I got rid of the second and tthird. Trusted Installer was such a PAIN.

The Most infections I've seen personally was about 4k,
This is the highest I actually have Proof of
picture taken from malwarebytes:
sadly both were very easy to fix
I had one that had an encrypted hard drive and that took me about 8 hours to fix

I can't remember exactly as it was about three weeks ago when I scaned them all but I had around 25,000.

I've had a few in my time nothing too bad as I've been on mac for the most part! This is clearly a win for Macs...
The more popular mac's become the more viruses that macs will have.

For the 7 years I owned my desktop, I never got a virus on it. Until about a few months ago.
I don't know what I installed, but some program installed another program that installed all this adware my computer would just keep crashing. There had to be over 20 different things of adware and more installing. Some program just kept installing more and more. If I deleted one, it would start about 5 more installers, some of which would run in the background. Some programs helped, but it just kept coming back. My solution was to make a backup of my stuff and reinstall Windows 7.

my PC had "crazy score ads" since months ago, that happened when i used google chrome, now i changed to firefox, same happened, and just a few days ago i uninstalled it, it was really hard, the location is really hiden
1
No need to reinstall, just run AdwCleaner and all adware will be obliterated in no time.

I'm sorry, but you must be a special kind of child if you manage to get more than 100 viruses on your computer at once...
In my entire life, I've only gotten three - two of which happened due to security flaws in various programs that I've used. The other one was just me on the internet for the first time in my life.

Well windows 10 comes out literally tomarrow last i checked. (well here it does...)

yep, the curse of the IE. Only reason I havent uninstalled it yet is to test stuff that firefox has issues with, to see if it is caused by the site or the browser.
Also funny how windows 10 will have no IE anymore, but another browser. I hope that lifts the curse, but doubt it.

The new browser is 10000x better than IE was. Trust me.

yep, avast is the most decent free anti-virus I know of, though it can get a little annoying with its popup screens sometimes.
anyway my virus record was 102, I dont know when it happened but suddenly my computer started doing weird things, I activated my scanner and it found those.

I use Norton.

Woah.
All my friends have infested Windows 8 computers with everything to hijacked search engines, adware, junkware, MiPony..., fake avg... and of course! Norton! (thats just eating popcorn and watching the show) I'm pretty sure they have keyloggers to
I managed to fix my friends over TeamViewer at 2 am. Ayyy it's kinda fixed :/
It's kinda useless to fix it for them. Idk what how they get that stuff. What do they search? Instagram follow bot free download?

Yep. I just hope i dont see that number again, or higher. I mean i had 50 back when i had no idea what they were. Now i know what they are and i help my friends who have no idea how to use anti-viruses (for some reason, alot of people i know dont know a thing about computers)
1
Using anti-viruses are easy, download, install, run, start scan.
1
Back when I used Vista, I had about 100+ viruses.
1
Ok does anyone here know how to remove viruses/adware without using a anti virus or superantispyware i tried bitdefender superantispyware and malwarebytes and when i get to delete them sometimes they pop back up and i used iobit uninstaller and still popup im gonna try other things and your guys suggestions
1
first of all, if you are going to install an antivirus on a computer with a lot of viruses... you should boot into safe mode. then install the antivirus and then scan
1
Avast is pretty good.
1
Ok im gonna try avast

423,910 viruses...because of a joke I made on my friend. The virus I programmed basically popped up what was defined as malware everytime it popped up, and it would load it again and again and again...so I opened task manager and ended the process tree. It was fun to see him like "WHAT THE -snip-?"

Like 100 at most is what I remember.
All Adware, because I let my 9 year old cousin use my computer, and he downloaded some things despite his mom specifically telling him not to "Download anything because you might mess up his computer."

my little cousin had about 7k viruses this year i wonder why his parents gave him a pc oh ya for minecraft
1
How old was he? If he was younger than 9 than it isn't his fault. I got my first computer when I was 8 and yes I got viruses and malware but cut me some slack.
1
Why would it not be his fault? Age doesn't matter, if he caught a virus then it's his fault.
1
Before the age of 16, things like that are the responsibility of the parents, since the parents failing to teach their kids how to not get viruses is probably the reason he got so many. I know, some people learn on their own, but not everyone has a natural feel for computer-related things. It took me 3 years to learn how to do more advanced stuff than opening a shortcut or managing files with folders, just cause my dad was too busy to teach me.

About 6 months ago my computer was going REALLY slow, I had that highlighted ads thing too which was incredibly irritating. I had Norton on my laptop at the time.
Anyway, one of my friends gave me a malwarebytes code, so I installed it.
The scan turned up something like 700 threats.
Woops.

I don't get viruses, partly because I'm careful, but mostly because there are very few easy-to-get viruses on Linux.
1
12,055 back in 2007... dont ask
1
Same year but around 7000 viruses only..
1
i got dis popup that sayed i got 426 virus! they sayed i shood call a number 2 fix it!
In all seriousness though, the worst thing I've ever gotten was a browser extension that highlighted most words with ad links. Was easily removed in about a minute by deleting the offending extension. Total, I've probably had somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 or 3 noticeable cases ever.
Ask my mom that same question though. Every month or so she pays me in Taco Bell to run a scan with MalwareBytes on her pop-up-ridden laptop.

Mhm food..
The answer for me is.. 0.
No actual viruses.
McAfee AntiVirus Plus does its job.
I had maybe 1 or 2 minor issues with a 10 year old computer, nothing I would consider to be a virus.
