Building SAO server, need opinions

A while back while on a random chat with the community of a server I administrate, the topic of SAO (Sword Art Online) came up. While skeptical of the idea, I began to wonder one question:
Is it possible and plausible, with the help of a good size build team and some clever execution, to build a server around castle Aincrad, or maybe Alfheim at some point?
More importantly, would anyone care about a server like this, modded or not.
What do you guys think?
Writing up a quick sketch of ideas, here's what I've come up with:
Worlds include Aincrad/Alfheim. No access to the "Real World".
Post-Deathgame iteration.
Character's stats effect efficiency with weapons, and some weapons require a certain strength level.
--Looking into disabling dual-wielding of certain items. It's theoretically possible, but no luck yet.
Quests and floors released periodically, allowing quicker release of the server and gradual build-up to floor 100!
Honestly, we're looking for ideas here. While criticism can be a good thing, words like "This idea sucks" are best swallowed. Reasons why it wouldn't work are accepted though.

Hello, WarsongTeam.
In my opinion starting a new project like this is a good idea,
but there are a few project's like this, which already have started.
So instead of starting a new project, it would be better to help out
with the existing ones, because if everyone starts his own project
no progress is made, and all of the project fail.

This sounds really cool, if you need help building the server PM your skype name. Developing this with you seems like it could be alot of fun
