Serving Time: What would you like to see in a prison server?

Hey there, I'm Doughty, and recently I've become a staff member on the Minecrafters prison server (Link here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/server/mcspvp/ )
We've been having a hard time with peaking the interest of new players and retaining old players as well, so what I wanted to know from you (the PMC community) is what kinds of things you think make a prison server enjoyable.
Here is a list of current features:
- 4 Prisoner ranks A-D and a Free rank
- The jail has a big spawn area surrounded by a pvp area.
- Seperate cell blocks and mines for each rank.
- Free rank has access to the free world, which is a near limitless map where raiding and pvp is allowed.
It's pretty much as basic as you can make a Jail server. So if any one has any helpful suggestions to make it better, please post your ideas here.

Do something no one else has done, ever. That gets players. Also, not everyone likes prison all the time. Once you get to the top, you're pretty much done. After that, you should be able to apply to be a guard, or to get released.
