Alright so I might be getting a new computer soon (parents have realised 7-year old cheap, pre-owned laptop doesnt do anything well)
We have a budget of around a thousand pound. I know it seems like a lot, but ivegot to have this computer for the rest of forever, so I need to besure I get the right one.

Do you guys have any idea what wouldbe the best? Can be desktop or laptop, doesnt matter, but a laptop might be easier for obvious reasons (college, uni, moving around a lot ect)

I want it to have a good graphics card for new games, and to play minecraft without lag as well as do basic stuff like browse the web and run photoshop/serif kinds of programs well.

What pcs do you guys have andare they any good?

"They do the job" So does every computer produced in the last few years, but do you know why no one recommends them? Because there are much better options and it makes no sense to buy them.

You dont understand what I am trying to say, pretty much if you go on youtube and look at some benchmarks for the x51 you will see they are pretty smooth on games but they're overpriced, that's why no one recommends them

Those are all cheaper than the budget she has, and even then those aren't the best parts for the price.

I dont think I could build one ._. I think that requires, like, actual knowledge of computers.

Well I guess forever just means a long time XD if I could make it last 6 years that would be okay.

It doesn't, really. Watch a few videos on YouTube like the newegg tutorials and you'll be fine.

Rest of forever? Honey, let me enlighten you. Any computer you get today will be a monster. In 2 years, it'll be decent, if not good. 4 years from now, it'll be below average, borderline weak. 6+ years, this computer will be comparable to a chromebook in terms of relative power.

So while it's rather unfair of your parents to say that this has to last forever, they are giving you a buttload of cash for this. Take advantage of that.

OP, are you looking for a prebuilt computer or are you cool with building your own?

I would recommend for a laptop looking at Alienware, they can be quite expensive but are great for a gaming laptop.

They aren't good, because their PCs are usually filled with custom-made parts that usually suck. Also, you can always get better for the price of an Alienware.

Which one? "Mac" doesn't narrow it down to enough?

That's like me saying "get a dell".

And if you're gonna give bad suggestions, at least justify why.

Windows 8.1 is a great operating system. You can make it look and feel just like 7. Plenty of us here have and love Windows 8.1.

And well 8 was. 8.1 is not. 8.1 is the best out right now. (Not just because it's new, but because of it's performance and features)

Thanks I dont know much about computers though XD

What is this computer going to be used for?
Art programs such as photoshop, and serif. Games, lots and lots of games (I do host a small mc server), and any other stuff like that. I occasionally have to do other stuff... Like steganography, don't ask.

What is your budget?
£1000 (uk pounds)

Where do you live? If in the US, do you have a nearby Microcenter?
England, uk. No microcenter, whatever that is.

What is included in the budget?
Everything, pretty much.

Will you be overclocking?
Probably not.

Will you be reusing any parts?
I already have a mouse.

What OS do you want?
This does mean operating system, right? Windows 7.

Any specific case preferences?
Preferably green, but black is more realistic. Laptop so I can carry it easy.

Any other special features that you want in the build?
Well, I guess it needs to be able to connect to wifi and stuff. Needs to be fairly fast and do stuff without lagging, so I guess it needs more memory for running programs. (If a single zombie can kill me when I have a diamond sword, its lagging too much.)

Fill this out
What is this computer going to be used for?
List what you will be doing with your computer.
What is your budget?
Include amount and currency.
Where do you live? If in the US, do you have a nearby Microcenter?
Your country lets us know what sites you can order from. If you have a nearby Microcenter they have some great in-store only deals that you can take advantage of.
What is included in the budget?
Things like the tower, the OS, peripherals and monitors.
Will you be overclocking?
Overclocking will require different hardware than a non-overclocking build so we need to know this.
Will you be reusing any parts?
If you are reusing parts list them here.
What OS do you want?
Say which OS you want or say if you already have a copy of one.
Any specific case preferences?
Size, color, etc.
Any other special features that you want in the build?
Stuff like an SSD, large hard drive, RAID, and wifi
