Very helpful. (not) Blah blah blah, building is better, blah blah. Everybody knows that, you can stop being unhelpful and tell the guy which is the best out of them. PMC's "PC Group" is full of people like you. Please disappear.
"don't be helpful, and lie to op telling him that one of these laptops are a good choice"
No, I will be helpful, and I will tell OP and everyone here that none of these laptops are a good choice. If you want to game on PC, you don't buy a laptop. If you need a laptop to game on while you move from place to place, well looks like you're out of luck, because a gaming laptop won't last but maybe an hour unplugged. From house to house? A miniitx computer the size of a console is better and cheaper.
You can stop being helpful and try to find better deals for op. Just because someone lists 5 bad choices, doesn't mean you have to pick those.

I agree.
You seem really knowledgeable in the computer field, why are you asking questions? /s

The Alienware 17 and the 17 inch ROG laptop have pretty much identical specs where it counts, but:
I'd choose whichever one has the better features for you (since you're paying so much, a few hundred dollars either way won't be much of a problem). However, keep in mind that for the price you're paying, you could build a good gaming computer with a 6- or 8-core i7 with DDR4 memory and a GTX 980 or two.
- The Alienware has a better CPU (though the CPUs on both laptops are exceptional as far as laptop CPUs go)
- The ROG laptop has a 256 GB SSD in addition to a 1 TB hard drive (the Alienware only has a 1 TB hard drive)
- The Alienware has an IPS touchscreen display

Thank you for the info.
For me, touchscreen isn't necessary though.

On that list the Alienware 17 is the best for performance, but for the price tag it's not worth it. I'd tell you to build a computer, but as you want to compare those I'm guessing you want a pre-built. If so, try not to get a mac or alienware, as they are overpriced for what you get, but it is up to you after all. As a massive fan of building PCs and desktops, even I wouldn't mind a macbook pro; to be honest.

I hate mac.

Plz also decide on the price.

Asus ROG all the way!

I know but do you think the name "Republic of Gamers is cheesy?"

EW! Don't get "gaming" laptops. They don't exist... Unless they're Prostar laptops.
Custom built is better than anything you can buy, if you can build legos, you can build computers

The Asus GL551JW is 2 times faster than the Alienware and it is $1,000 cheaper.
