Why Are Less People Joining Skin Contests?
Hello PMC,
I have a simple question for all of you, why are fewer and fewer people joining skin contests hosted by Planetminecaft? The first official skin contest hosted by PMC had 1,448 participants, and the latest skin contest only had 423. even though the community has grown greatly, less people are joining official skin contests. so again, why do you think has happened?
I request that we keep it professional and no flame wars, you can debate about this topic, but do not insult others.

I didn't find the themes that interesting, so I didn't enter. The last good contest IMO was Life on the High Seas.

Because I'm too lazy, that's why.

Skinning on PMC is corrupt. It's just the same 10 people always making skins that are actually mediocre but everyone in the comments applauds them about how amazing the skin is. That's why I quit skinning. Just a bunch of hypnotized fanboys that love bad skins is all the skinning community is now. Probably has something to do with less people joining contests. Plus, it's the same people in the top 10 every time... why try?

After a while, you just get out of touch man. Give me something good to work with and I'll work with that. Otherwise, I have nothing to work about

Imo, the past few contest themes weren't very inspiring. That's why I didn't enter.

Some of the contest's these days are just too strict on rules. If you go slightly off they will just disqualify you. It sort of kills people's imagination.

Yeah I didn't enter in the last skin contest because mine kept being disqualified. Because someone from a freak show is not related to the circus

It's not hard to prevent your submission from being DQ'd. The rules aren't very strict beyond stay in the theme and follow site rules. In 500poundsofnothing's case, it was only about adding a backstory that adequately explained the skin's connection to the theme.

I've noticed this too, and was wondering why it was happening. i'm guessing that most people don't have very many ideas, or are too busy.

There are too many contests. I'm not saying too many official ones, just too many in general. There are always like 20 active at a time in the forums by random people celebrating 100 subs or something. And skins take work. So ideas run out and willingness for contests run out.

Less novelty?

Depending on the theme, some people may not have a skin idea for it.
