Venus With The Apple statue was made by a sculptor named Bertel Thorvaldsen in the early 19th century. It's made out of marble and is currently displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The story of the apple in the statue of Aphrodite with the Apple is that it was awarded to Aphrodite by Paris, a prince of Troy, in a beauty contest against Hera and Athena. The apple was inscribed with the words "To the Fairest" and Paris was asked to judge which goddess deserved it. He chose Aphrodite, who had promised him the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen of Sparta, as a reward. This event is known as the Judgment of Paris and is mentioned in Homer's Illiad.
