This is my 1:1 scale speculative reconstruction on how the church of St segius and bacchus in Constantinople may have looked after it was built by emperor Justinian in 536 ad. This church is often called the little hagia sophia because of its floorplan being the same as the hagia sophia and you gotta admit it rolls off the tongue. i didnt build the atrium of the church because its also part of another church that used to be right next to the little hagia sophia that had almost no information on it so i just didnt bother with it

some history
the construction of the church of St segius and bacchus began 5 years before the construction of the hagia sophia in 532 ad and is believed to be designed by the same architects and it was thought to be a prototype of the hagia sophia but thats been discredited due to nothing else in the building besides a general floorplan being similar. the church remained a monestary at the center of the iconoclasm movement for most of byzantine history and even remained a monastery after the ottoman conquest of the city in 1453 up until the 16th century when it was converted into a mosque for the sultans residence in the tokapi palace where it still stands today

Please enjoy and hope it inspires some more
