This was my first project on SerenityMC.net - and only after I finished did I find a few other soda can projects out there.
First off, as with many builds on SerenityMC.net's main map, this was foraged and built 100% legit while fighting off creepers and skeletons. Some highlights:
The can:
* The glass portion is 57 blocks long.
* I had to bake 10000+ glass blocks to build.
* Crafting circles for the shape turns out to be a LOT harder vertically than the usual horizontal case.
* The lava flows between two glass hulls for the top half.
* Building the glass took a week
* filling the form with lava took under two minutes by a slot along the top
* the lava took a lot longer to ooze down to the bottom
The soda pour:
* a combination of evergreen logs and plain logs
* has an interior passage to climb up into the can through the inside
* uses a series of diagonal (parallel) ladders to allow climbing
The drinking glass:
* filled with dirt and brown wool, carefully isolated enough to avoid grass from growing
The straw:
* yes, you can climb up it, with a series of diagonal (parallel) ladders
The parklands:
* there's an underground passage to enter the straw, or enter the pour to get inside the can
* there's a "big" tree growing in the all-wood party deck inside the can
* there's a redstone jingle that sings the old jingle, "Always Coca-Cola(tm)" on your arrival
