This is a very simple component that allows you to shift data in four directions, which can be useful for games and image processing. I use a memory cell consisting of a loop of redstone and a repeater to store the data and a shift involves using an AND gate to select the direction as well as a piston to break the loop and set that particular cell to zero. Inputs and outputs can be attached to the bottom of the cell and customized for your needs. This component is stackable, however in the last row on one of the edges you'll need to add a few blocks to connect the wire I've marked with blue wool (in the picture, but not the schematic) to the bus above it in order for it to function. The way in which this is done should be very apparent once you stack the memory, but if you need any assistance let me know and I'll post more images. :D

I think an additional image with labeled inputs, outputs, and control lines would help people assimilating this component : )
Thanks,
