Welcome to District 1, a recreated interpretation from "The Hunger Games" series!
District 1 is one of the 13 districts of Panem and specializes in providing luxury goods for the Capitol. It is located around Missoula, Montana in the United States. District outputs include perfume, wine, and precious metals. It is the home of characters Glimmer, Marvel, Cashmere, and Gloss.
A note from the Head Architect, ArtifexMM:
"The film makers of the Hunger Games series did so much stylistic work to perfect the architecture and aesthetics of Panem. We usually let that professional research do all the work for us, but without movie visuals of District One, the build team needed to allow some artistic license. With inspiration from the movie's District Two, we reasoned that District One would be more colorful and metropolitan because of its citizen's necessarily good taste and developed craftsmanship. We worked with photos of Communist East Berlin but mixed those with elements of New York City and Paris, while still allowing the necessary District poverty around the outskirts. Culturally, District One's citizens try to reflect Capitol tastes, but can never fully afford a Capitol lifestyle. Expensive stone facades usually hide crumbling brick structures, and fancifully colored glass is only placed on lower floors for pedestrians to marvel at. Clothing too is exquisitely colorful, but much more simple and "old-fashioned." Additionally, we hid a lot of painfully thought-out lore to enhance the historical bones of the city. So, keep on the lookout for the city's ancient secrets hidden around."
