Welcome to DOOMcraft



DOOMcraft is a map and Datapack that turns minecraft into a DOOM inspired shooter!

  • Scour the levels for food, potions, and armor. Fight to reclaim your gear and weapons when you die! Find new strategies and secrets as you explore and replay levels!
  • Play with a faster and deadlier Steve. See when mobs are at low health and finish them off!
  • Use custom weapons to slaughter enemies. Blast mobs up close with your Shotgun, obliterate hordes with Rockets, or mow them down with your trusty Gun.
  • Looking for a challenge? Wanna go wild? Turn on Skulls (inspired by the Halo games) to empower foes or buff your character. Double the enemies, make them die in one hit, have them resurrect from their items, and much more!


Installation


  
  If you want the map to play correctly, your going to need the Combat Test Snapshot 8c (8b also works). Unfortunately, the snapshot doesn't come in the launcher. You can find the download and instructions on how to get it in your launcher here:

  After that, can just put the "DOOMcraft" folder into your save folder like normal. You may also a notice folder named "DOOMpack"; This is a small Resource Pack that makes the crossbow variations look different from each other. Toss that in your Resource Pack folder and you should be good to go!

  1-4 is finally here. Also here are custom Advancements for tracking what secrets you have and a small number of quality of life changes.

=== General ===

  • Added Act 1 Level 4 "Still Alive".
  • Secrets now give "Attunement", which is used to unlock Nightmare levels. You'll need 42 Attunement to unlock N-1.  
  • How much Attunement a secret is worth is based on the mob head found within it: Zombie = 3, Creeper = 5, Enderman/Human = 10. Harder to obtain secrets are given a more valuable mob head.
    • Skeleton Skulls now signify an already collected secret. Any Skeleton Skulls outside this context have been replaced by Creeper Heads. Any heads that were Creeper Heads before are now Enderman heads.
    • Secrets are now tracked on the "Advancements" page in place of Minecraft's default Advancements. Each Area has its own tab.
    • Added the Red Skull "Heartbeat". It turns Skeletons into Pillagers.
    • The Red Skull Recrudescence has gotten a minor rework: Enemies now respawn from mob heads they drop while the skull is on. The respawn time has been increased from 1 minute to 1 mintues 30 seconds (To compensate for there no longer being a chance that an enemy won't respawn due to not dropping the item they respawn from).
    • Enemies no longer drop useless items. (Thanks to gabe1cragger for the suggestion!)
    • Pillagers and Shotgunners now drop 0-1 arrows instead of nothing.
    • Shotgunners now have a sound effect when loading their guns so you know when you're about to be blasted.
    • Added a TRI DAMAGE potion. Causes most attacks to do triple the damage. Affects all players if any one of them has the effect.
    • Rockets now deal a maximum of 25 damage (12.5 hearts) on average, up from 22 (11 hearts). This should make direct hits one-shot Shotgunners somewhat consistently and one-shot other Elite enemies more consistently.
    • The SUPER SHOTGON's extra arrows are now "crit" arrows, with the appropriate particles.
    • The SUPER SHOTGUN now has a sweet sound effect when fired.
    • Purge Bombs no longer deal reduced damage to Master enemies (the ones in Diamond armor). Instead, they will deal reduced damage to bosses (when they show up).
    • Items can no longer be repaired via crafting. (Again, thanks to gabe1cragger for the suggestion)
    • All weapons can now mine mob heads placed on walls and put out fires.
    • Tnt now destroys the arrow that detonates it, preventing it from being launched back at you.
    • Iron Chestplates now have 15 durability, up from 12. Armor values in the future will (for the most part) be divisible
      by 5.
    • Shulker pellets no longer levitate the player and their allies. They instead give Wither V for 2 seconds.
    • Enemies still receive the levitation effect and are now healed for the shulker pellet's damage.
    • The arrow chest in 1-1's bedroom now has 32 arrows, up from 30. It's a smooth number!

    === Resource Pack ===

    • Corrected a miscolored pixel on the SUPER SHOTGUN.
    • Rocket particles now gain transparency after a few frames. They should be somewhat less intrusive.


      Next update will have any balance changes needed for the new level, and perhaps some challenges for the player to try out. It might be a while before 1-5 is out with college starting up, so I want a little something to hold players off. I might try having unlockable skulls!

    I think this might be my favorite PvE experience. It's executed so well, and is just brilliant altogether. I can't wait for new levels to play through! My only complaint is that the mobs drop loot. My advice would be a repeating command block clearing all string, gunpowder, and bones from the inventory.
    Not sure if this is intended or not (I'm also not sure if you can do anything about it), but you can craft armor together to get longer durabilities
    If you would like a more in-depth custom resource pack for this map, let me know!

    That means a lot to hear. I'm glad you like it! Expect an update with another level and some quality of life changes in about a week or two.

    I'm set on using the vanilla textures for this map, though feel free to take a stab at a resource pack if it really interests you.
