History up to November 1908:

Originally ordered as Mitra of the Giuseppe Garibaldi-class of Armored Cruisers for the Royal Italian Navy in 1901 but was sold to the Argentine Navy instead in 1902. After improving relations with Chile and some financial issues, Argentina offered to sell the ship and was later purchased by the Imperial Japanese Navy before the start of the Russo Japanese War (1904-1905).

The ship was built at a shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Laid down on 10th March 1902, Launched on 22nd October 1902, sold to the Japanese on 30th December 1903 and renamed as Kasuga. The ship, along with her sistership Nisshin were commissioned on 7th January 1904 and arrived in Japan on 16th February just days after the start of hostilities between Russia and Japan. Unlike her sistership, she was armed with a single 10-inch gun in a forward turret and two 8-inch guns in the aft turret.

The actions of this ship during the war includes; the Action of 13th April which saw the Russian Flagship Petropavlovsk sunk and Vice Admiral Stepan Makarov killed; bombardment of Port Arthur from Pigeon Bay; colliding with the Protected Cruiser Yoshino on 15th May which saw the latter sunk; the Battle of the Yellow Sea (10th August 1904); the Battle of Tsushima (27th to 28th of May 1905); and the Invasion of Sakhalin (July 1905).

After the war, the ship continued service and by 1908 was assigned to the 1st Fleet under Vice Admiral Baron Goro Ijuin. At the Imperial Naval Review on 17th November, the ship was part of the 5th Division of the 1st Fleet. The commanding officer of the ship is Captain Kishi Arakawa from the 10th class of the Imperial Naval Academy who commanded the ship since 28th August 1908.

Hi there, my name is Crimist!

This is part of my project called “Imperial Japanese Navy (November 1908)”. In this project, I build warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy present in the Imperial Naval Review held at Kobe, Japan from November 17 to 18, 1908. The second part of this project will consist of Armored Cruisers. I hope you will like this build.

You can add me on Discord: “Crimist#7427” for more details about this project.

I hope you support this project as well as my other concurrent project called “Project Starfleet 2263” by simply giving Diamonds or Hearts. Anyways, thanks again for the support and see you on my next build!
