I've been working on this attempt of Moria since late summer 2012 after my son get me interested in it. I've no intention of limiting the size so have just used my Engineering experience & Tolkien interest to create a realm that will do Moria justice.

It is being built by hand without any mods although using creative mode but with just myself building. My son has dabbled here and there on occasion :)

Mountain containing the core of Moria was built to world height from scratch with Durin's Tower on the top. The endless stair goes from there to world bottom. Most of the ongoing development will be underground with occasional parts on surface. At spawn zone are several experimental structures such as Barad-Dur built to world height, wife & son's houses, nether portal. All areas linked by double track railway via either the mainline loop or via interchange stations.

Ironforge "ring" & columns complete with roof structural detail now added. Walkways on 2 levels around whole chamber with bridges & stairs criss-crossing the ring at various levels to reach all the homes. Accommodation can now be added based on these levels with lots of potential.
Planning to extend height of Moria & add mountain to cover Ironforge to look more like a mountain range.
