Hello,
this time I'd like to present the Palazzo della Signoria, the seat of the Signoria, the legislative authority of the city-state. This council consists of 25 members, 20 elected (12 from the most prominent city nobles and rich merchants, for a one year term and 8 from the rich craftsmen, for a period of six months) and 5 stable members: the doge, the commander of the city watch, the representative of the archbishop, the university's chancellor and the tribune of the common folk (representative of the poorer classes, elected every three months in a separated elections). Traditionally the chairman is elected by the nobles , whereas his vice - by the craftsmen. Each elective member is responsible for a different section. To vote for most of the decisions it's required to stabilize the usual majority, however, some crucial decisions such as increasing the taxes or suspension of the doge require at least 20 votes.
The palace is located on the Piazza del Re Cervo, the principal square of the Cervo district. It's a massive building, made mostly of stone blocks with a massive civic tower above (one of the tallest ones, concerning the height of the building). Next to the palace You can observe a small romanesque church of Santo Stefano, serving mostly as the chapel and the brick Loggia Pubblica, a place of meetings with one of the state's maps. There are also many other significant buildings nearby, but they may appear in the other submissions.
The infpiration for the complex comes mostly from the Palazzo Vecchio and Loggia dei Lanzi at Florence, and the church derives from the romanesque ones at Lucca and Pisa (obviously, in a simplified form).
