First built in 1978 in the outer edges of the small town of Plains Run was Plains Run Mall. It brought about many shopping options that were once a heft drive out of town to get. It was packed with people day and night and offered things the other malls didn't have. It had a huge common area with an array of food choices and offered a modern feel and look. That is until a cool night right after closing in the summer of 1980. An electrical wire above the huge common area sparked and set the ceiling in flames turning half the mall into an inferno. The entire mall was ruined. By Fall of 1982 the mall had been rebuilt and lasted until 1991 when it was brought into the new decade with 2 entirely new anchors are added and the rebuilt common area is replaced with more stores and another floor. A new main enterance gleams in the heart of the mall. the years leading into the 2000's and on the mall slowly lost its flare as all malls around the nation were. It passed through 3 owners until an elderly couple bought it and put care and passion into the mall. Much to they're dismay they were forced to sell it as they were getting too old to manage. The years were really starting to show on the mall and stores were leaving. Plains Run Mall is sold to a wealthy man who plans to close it and turn the beloved mall into an open air shopping center moving many of the businesses to the newer and widely vacant Ring Center Mall down the road. When plans are announced the town shows outrage. A petition is started to stop the plans and the mall remains open with just 10 stores left and a community looking for a caring owner to bring in business. The petition is successful and the mall is auctioned off Dec. 15 2015. A group of investors buys the mall and one man is put in charge of the project, He sees potential for a complete overhaul. In the early months of 2016 it is announced the mall will be closing within a month. The mall will be closed for a complete remodel. All the stores will be gutted and the entire mall will be brought into the 21'st century. Today the mall is filled with shops and looks completely different from its roots boasting all the popular brands.
