I built this in minecraft version 1.15.2 and John Smith Legacy texture pack. This house is based on the 1939 movie Gone with the Wind, in which it is the Wilkes' family plantation "Tara." The movie house was in-turn inspired by a real home in Covington, Georgia currently known as "Twelve Oaks." The real home is over 11000 square feet and was put up for auction last year, I am not sure if it sold.

I primarily concentrated on the exterior appearance, as in this scale I cannot get the level of interior detail to replicate the original. I could not get pictures of all the facades so I used some artistic license on what I could not find.

It is interesting to note that the interior shots of"Tara" in the movie are not the actual home, but a Hollywood set. The set design is at a much larger scale than even the 11K sq ft original, so think of it as like a Tardis, larger on the inside than out lol.

In my opinion, plantation homes are beautiful, despite the sordid history that funded their construction. They are also practical, designed to allow for air flow, long hallways through the entire house and high ceilings helped keep the building cool in the days before air conditioning.
