This is a just a house I made on a island in a ocean.
What is special about it is that it is built into the island and it is even partly built under water, I also used no torches at all, I used glow stone as a indirect source of light.

I found an area with many(6 or so) previously tamed wolves, all seated. Is there a way to tame them for MY pets?
They do not react, except to just sit there.

To tame wolfs, you need to give them bones, and you get bones by killing skeletons.
