For my 3rd project, I will be constructing an Ancient Roman Bireme. This ship, like the Penteconter will not be part of the Royal Minecraft Navy for the same reasons.
Ship Statistics;
No. of Decks: 3, Two (1 exposed) rowing decks, 1 small Cargo deck
No. of Masts: 1
Armament: Ramming Prow
Crew Compliment: 68*
*The rower count had to be halved due to Minecraft''s large block sizes.
More images to come very soon!

Never expected that I reconize some kind of old project I commented back on... Yet here I am not skipping it as I otherwise would do...
Anyway it seems I didn't suggest pressing F1 before taking a screenshot back than. So there is no item-bar and crosshair in those screenshots.

Few things I think could be improved:
- The mast doesn't look that strong to hold it.
- The end of the rows, what 'moves' the water, close it up.
And at last try some experimenting with different blocks.
Anyway have fun building.
Because of Minecraft is a voxel game, I can't make the mast any bigger without expanding the boat to much! I would like to keep it as realistic as possible (for a minecraft creation, if you know what I mean).
Also, they only built biremes out of a few different wood types.
For the mast I suggest solid wood, it looks way stronger and it only uses the same space.
Although it looks probably a bit too big, it is a decision you should make.
I didn't know that, I am no expert in those ships.
The solid block for the mast will be used in more 1700's ships of ship of the line status and alike. It wouldn't be so good here as you would have to drop down into where the rowers sit every time you walk past.
