Hey! This is my first custom ship, which I call the S/S Nordic. It is a fictional Swedish ocean liner launched in 1934. It was built by me on the Team Seanetwork server over the course of a month, from the 25th of March 2021 to the 29th of April. Hope you enjoy the model!

The Nordic was a Swedish ocean liner launched in 1934 intended for the
Göteborg-New York route. Its maiden voyage was on the 17th of June, 1935. She served alongside her running mates, the very similar Arwanic, the great Feranic and the smaller Saevic. The four ships served a succesful career lasting until World War 2. Since passenger demands virtually disappeared in neutral Sweden, the Nordic Star Line (Nordiska Stjärnlinjen) were forced to lay up their three larger liners. Saevic was kept in service to accomodate the few still travelling, which was perfect for the small but charming ship. She would eventually join her running mates after an order from the Swedish government to lay up all their ships due to the threat of the wartime Östersjön as well as the Atlantic. After the war the four ships were in dire need of renovation. The first to resume service was the Nordic, having received a new paint scheme and updates to her interior. Similar changes were made to Saevic and Arwanic, while the Feranic would simply be touched up as she had barely served half a year until the war broke out. The Arwanic would sink in 1953 after colliding with the Norwegian ship Øresund. Other than the three casualties from the collision itself, there were no more deaths and the ship sank over the course of five hours, more than enough time for everyone to evacuate. Nordic was turned into a ocean liner/cruise ship hybrid and went on to serve for a succesful 15 years, until the rise of commercial air traffic threatened the ocean liners. The four was moved to almost exclusively serve as cruise ships in the mediterranean, with only one to five transatlantic voyages for each ship per year. Feranic would sail the most out of them all, as she was a ship very well known worldwide and as such really quite popular, even when the transatlantic market dwindled. In the 70s, the four Swedes began showing their age and as such the Nordic Star Line decided to phase out their older ships, beginning with the Feranic. She would be sold to another company in 1977, and serve as a cruise ship full time until being scrapped in 1996. Many in Sweden lobbied for her to be preserved in a similar way to the Queen Mary, but there simply wasn't enough money or interest from parties that had the capacity to do it. Due to her size, the Saevic was deemed to still be valuable and could therefore be easily and cheaply renovated and kept in service. She remains in service to this day with her running mate, the Novamic. The Nordic would be sold for scrap in 1978 after a total of 34 years of service. A new ship, called the Nordic II, would be launched in 1981, which is still in service as a cruise ship.
