Batillus is a ULCC (Ultra Large Crude Carrier) tanker built in 1976 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire for Royal Dutch Shell. French subsidiary of Shell Oil. She is the lead vessel of a series of four vessels: Batillus, Bellamya, Pierre Guillaumat and Prairial. In terms of size, the Batillus is considered the largest engineered tanker in the world, as the Knock Nevis (formerly Jahre Viking, Happy Giant and Seawise Giant) was originally laid with a lower deadweight, and its size increased due to subsequent restructuring.
