When I did research on midway, i found that the width of my essex class ships was way off, so I decided to completely redo them.
It is hands down one of my favorite ships and a ship I have been lucky to visit.
Unfortuately, there is not interior.
CV-10 was the fourth US ship named Yorktown, and was originally planned to be named Bon Homme Richard, (which cv-31 was later named) she was renamed Yorktown to commemorate the sunken CV-5. She was launched on 21 January 1943, and pariticpated in the pacific war until 1945.
In the early 50s, she was modernised, and redesignated as an attack carrier, then an anti submarine carrier. She served in Vietnam in the late 60s, and recovered the Apollo 8 command module. (first spacecraft to leave earth orbit, orbit the moon, and return safely) She was used in the films "Tora Tora Tora" and "The Philadelphia experiment" until being decommissioned in 1970. In 1975 She became a museum ship in Patriots Point.
Yorktown is the oldest surviving aircraft carrier by hull number, and the second oldest by the date she was completed. (second to Lexington (CV-16))
USS Hornet (CV-12) is built by T0NG, intrepid and yt built my me.
Next ship is USS Texas (BB-35)
