The X99-M-class was an autonomous reconnaissance spacecraft manufactured by Lezekka Technologies. Known for producing advanced capital-grade weapons, such as the CorT-series of light laser cannons, the company also began shifting a sizeable portion of their business towards other technologies in the late 48,700s. Most major shipbuilding and technology corporations during this period recognized that, after six separate Shadow Fleet attacks occurred in less than a century, the affected regions of Ivesceel would be desperate for anything capable of aiding in recovery efforts. The X99-M was designed not for military use, at least in the armed conflict sense, but to assist TAUFOG governments with disaster relief in territories left without communications or travel infrastructure. The drone was designed with cost effectiveness and ease of operation first. With a price less than a typical civilian personal starship, but a sensor package able to survey an entire star system and the necessary long-range RISNET and CIINNET transceivers to communicate with comm satellites and spacecraft over thousands of light years away, the X99-M could be sent deep into sectors devastated by Shadow Fleets and locate surviving planets, space stations, and ships, dramatically improving the efficiency of GACIAF and TAUFOG government disaster relief. The drone was produced for over four decades with hundreds of thousands of units sold.
