What is Rent My Minecraft?
Rent My Minecraft is a new type of server hosting, but designed for the average player. It enables anyone who plays minecraft to log on to our lobby server, execute a command to start their own server that is automatically set up for them in a few minutes, and then join it straight through the lobby with a single command. It is meant for players who do not have the ability or desire to host their own servers in order to play with friends, for instance. Want to play with you friends on your own private server, but no one knows how to set a server up? That is what Rent My Minecraft is designed for.
How much does it cost?
Unfortunately, because of the substantial resources required for this project, server hosting is not free. However, we charge for servers in a very unique way. Basically, every player has a certain number of credits, and when a server is running, you will lose one credit per minute. This enables players to only be charged for the number of minutes their server is running. This is what defines Rent My Minecraft from other hosting services; because rather than paying an entire month's worth for the much smaller amount of time you can actually play, you can start a server for a couple days or so, shut it down, and then start it back up a bit later and keep playing.
What kinds of maps/servers can I create?
Currently we are still developing our system, and thus right now we do not have a lot of options available. However, we can host essentially any map that can run in the vanilla game (currently no mods are supported). This is achieved through letting players upload their own worlds through our website. We will soon be creating a guide for creating and uploading the archive, as well as all of the commands on the lobby server.
Please ask any questions you have and leave feedback, I realize that this is definitely not enough information yet, so please be patient while I add more.
