Charles the Great, a man of strength, power, intelligence and joy for life, ruled the Frankish empire for 46 years.. (768-814)
46 years of (...something that looked like...) peace and prosperity, until the great Charles passed away. Though he was a hero of his time and still is to some people in the present, he could no longer protect the cities and villages of the dangers of the North: The barbaric Vikings, men of the North, plundered and destroyed the villages, towns and cities on the north-western coast, over and over and over again. And yes, also the Netherlands were and now still are located there. Over and over again the towns were plundered, destroyed, built again, plundered, destroyed, built again, etc, etc...
Will it ever stop?

Heyaz all, this is my contest-entry for this super awesome Medieval-skin-contest. I chose to make a viking. Though many people think all vikings were barbarians, they also make excellent builders, farmers, fishermen and explorers. They were the second people to find America.
