Anguirus was the first giant opponent that the King of the Monsters, Godzilla, ever faced. It was one year (approx.) after the first Godzilla had been apparently dissolved by Dr. Serizawa's Oxygen Destroyer. Japan was still reeling from the devastation that had been wreaked when the beast came ashore. However, things were calming down, and the citizens of the land of the rising sun were looking forward to a hopeful future. Then, all of a sudden, their worst fears came true. Two pilots searching for schools of tuna were forced to land on Iwato Island when one of their planes malfunctioned. While there, they suddenly felt the ground begin to shake beneath them. To their horror, the source of the quake was soon revealed to be two colossal monsters in heated combat. One of the pilots instantly recognized Godzilla as one of them, but the other, a quadruped with an armored shell, was new. The dueling pair fell into the water shortly after Godzilla gained the lead. Upon reaching the mainland, the unknown monster was identified to be Anguirus, Godzilla's ancient rival. The Godzilla fighting it is determined to be another Godzilla, also mutated by the Atomic Bomb tests. This Godzilla soon surfaces of the coast, propting pilots to try and lure it away from populated areas using flares. Angered by the light (which reminded him of the Atomic Bomb's explosion), Godzilla begins to turn away. However, a fire caused by some escaped convicts draws him back to shore in short order. Worse, Anguirus soon bursts from the water, ready for another round. The two titans commence an battle of epic proportions, destroying half of Osaka in the process. Despite Anguirus's best efforts, Godzilla once more gained the upper hand, flipping the quadruped onto his back, exposing his less-heavily-protected underside. Using his atomic ray, Godzilla then incinerates Anguirus, starting a massive industrial fire. The King of Monsters then descends back into the depths, victorious. Later, the military is able to lure the beast to the antarctic, where they cause an avalanche, and bury Godzilla in the ice and snow.



Despite his apparent death, Anguirus reappeared some years later, now a staunch ally of the Monster King. He is known in the Godzilla community for his incredible tenacity; he will continue to fight no matter how high the odds are stacked against him. He is widely considered to be Godzilla's best friend and ally, and has quite a fan following here in the states.





Okay, now that that's over with, I'll tell you why I made this skin. Since I love Godzilla so much (and the G-fest is this weekend, SO excited), I decided to extend my Godzilla skin into a whole series, going in chronological order. Next is King Kong!
