Hellboy is a comic book character created by Mike Mignola, who has appeared in several mini-series and two feature films. A demon summoned to earth by Nazi Occultists, Hellboy escaped to and was soon discovered by Allied Forces, who took him. Due to his upbringing by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy shows a very human sense of benevolence and empathy, which is rather unexpected coming from a demon prince. He filed his horns down to stumps to better fit into the human world, and is a key member of the Allied Forces organization, the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. His full name, Anung Un Rama, translates roughly as "the Beast of the Apocalypse".
