Atlantis is a place of mystery and many stories, both real life myths and fantasy writings, found based on or in Atlantis are of epic proportion. Here is something of my own Atlantian story, an unfortunate girl who became much more.

Backstory:
Atlantis was a hub of trade between ancient empires, and, as trading increased, so did the danger of being a merchant.

Once the daughter of a shipping merchant, Diona often found herself stashed away in the cargo hold of her father's ships. Sailing was dull, the destinations exotic, but nothing was ever certain, except for the summer when they'd return to Atlantis, to return home.

In her shared adventures with her father, Diona learned the hard way, the tyranny of war time battles. One fateful night, her father's vessel was caught in a battle, and sank to its watery grave. Diona was the only survivor, stranded, clinging for dear life on a barrel.

Days later, pirates came across her barrel and took her aboard, where they immediately chained her up.

Diona was sold as a slave in Atlantis' underground. And there she worked, mining, serving drinks to miners, among other things, until she was sold again to a middle aged woman.

The woman, a priestess in disguise, had no ill intentions with the now young lady Diona, and freed her. From then on, Diona served as a priestess herself, and even went on to promote peace between Atlantis and rivaling empires.
Upon her death, she was recognized for her valor and was given the highest honor in Atlantis.

There is no certainty that the Deity and Diona are one-in-the-same, but the chains around her neck, ankles and wrists, the drenched robe, and forlorn expression, express that they may just be that.
