For a long time I've wanted to do the Aztecs and Egyptians theme, and finally it has rolled around. I find both of these civilizations equally fascinating, and didn't know which to pick - so why not both?

The front side of the skin is Anubis, the Egyptian god of death and its associated aspects, ranging from mummification and tombs to the underworld and afterlife: one of his most famous roles is weighing the hearts of the dead against a feather to determine whether they were good enough to enter the afterlife; if not, they were fed to his pet crocodile-lion-hippo hybrid Ammit. Anubis is often depicted as a black jackal, or at least has the head of one with the rest of his body being humanoid.


The back side of the skin is Tezcatlipoca, the Aztec god of night and war. He is often associated with obsidian, and his name, which means "Smoking Mirror," reflects this; sometimes he wears one of these obsidian mirrors on his chest. Another distinctive feature Tezcatlipoca possesses is a missing right foot, replaced with bone, from when he and his brother/rival Quetzalcoatl fought a crocodile-monster to create the world. Tezcatlipoca's animal form is a jaguar; however, instead of the normal yellow coloration I decided to go for a black panther-like look that fits his role more.
