A group of travelers went into the Badlands, expecting an easy trip. Something akin to the desert or mountains. They were not expecting such rough terrain and the confusing maze created from the large mountainous clay. For years they tried to survive, to escape back to the world they knew. But there was no point, they were lost. Trapped. So they did the wise thing: settled down where there was water. They mined for materials, creating a large mineshaft all throughout the badlands. They fed on the spiders that populated the caves they found and the rare animal that crossed their paths. Through the generations, their bodies changed to conduct as little heat as possible, bleaching in the harsh sun. Their teeth adapted to the meat and arachnid diet, looking menacing to the travelers that found themselves as lost as their ancestors. Soon, their homes carved from the clay around them spread to the highest peaks. They found wood, and began rebuilding important places with this new material. Their tools got stronger, and their mines were reinforced. Their fires lasted all through the night, and they began melting down the materials faster.

Trade roots followed after. Apparently the gold they used as decoration was rare everywhere else. They were considered the richest settlement of their age. Soon, pillagers and other settlements came after them, trying to steal the riches they were so proud to call their own. They put up a fight, but eventually they were wiped out. All traces of their homes were eroded away, and the spider population grew into an overflowing and dangerous numbers. All that was left of the reptilian people were their mines, still standing years later.

This skin is based off of the Collard Lizard. They are found often in high altitude yet dry climates. They use a lot of yellow, both the females and males having it on their bodies. But the males are found with bright blues. I thought this would be fun to base an entire race on, because the extra colours in the Badlands looks very nice, in my opinion.
