Ibram Gaunt, also known as the "People's Hero," is an Imperial Commissar and the commanding officer of the Tanith First and Only regiment of the Astra Militarum, better known as "Gaunt's Ghosts."
Gaunt is much more compassionate than most Imperial Commissars, and evidences true concern for the well-being of his troops. He tries to lead through displays of virtue, not the imposition of terror.
