The mission was simple, to take the town of Berslau. All seemed good, aside from Edgar executing an unarmed Russian without breaking a sweat. But as soon as the combat started, Rudolf (The main character) and Ferdinand (the main character's two hour old friend) began to realize the dire situation. The "offensive" line became a defense instantly. First, the VolkSturm grandfather died in front of his Grandsons, while trying to lower the youngest Grandson's head so he doesn't get SHOT IN THE FREAKING HEAD BY THAT DARN HAIL OF BULLETS. The grandsons got out of the ditch with the help of a Wehrmacht soldier. They held out on the hill for two minutes. Then, Edgar ran out of ammunition. He asked for the last VolkSturm to retrieve him a submachine gun. Have you know, this VolkSturm looked around 9 to 11 years old. He went to get the SMG, but within a second of following the order, got shot... and fell into Edgar's arms. Edgar shook him a little, asking if he was ok. Turned him over, and saw a bloody, young face. Edgar froze, becoming a villain to a hero. What helped him become a hero was Edgar's friend (who's name I forgot,) went up to surrender, and was shot dead. (Ironic, isn't it?) Edgar was probably scarred at this point. He handed Rudolf a letter for Edgar's mom, and ordered Rudolf to retreat. Edgar covered Rudolf in a last stand, where he stood up to the top of the hill, and sprayed down Russians, and was tragically shot dead.
