Be careful what you wish for.

In the year 3042, there was a man. His name, was Survol. Survol was bound to the disgusting grounds of Earth. You know what he got for his sixteenth birthday? No. He didn't get a car. He got a gas mask. The air was so polluted that you couldn't even breathe in the air without the risk of dying. But, for his twenty-first birthday, he wanted more. He didn't want the fake love from his family. He wanted something for himself. He had spent all of his life worrying about others, and worrying about the planet. The planet would die in his lifetime, there was no doubt about it.

On the eve of his twenty-first birthday, Survol wished that he could escape. That he could be rid of this cruel world. That maybe... He could fly.

When he awoke, his wish did come true. But not in the way he imagined. Wings had sprouted from his back, rich in color. A tail had grown from the small of his back, shifting in the hot breeze. Blue feathers lined his legs, and smaller red ones covered his chest in multiple layers. And where his mouth had once been, a beak had grown. When he looked in the mirror, horror reflected in his eyes.

What. Had. He. Done?

Survol could not stay and let his unloving family see him for the way he was now. He had to escape. And so... He flapped his wings with the many colorful feathers, and started to fly away... Slowly, sadly, and... Happily. All at the same time. He could finally escape, but was it worth it? He was still a man at heart, but would others seem him that way?
