I can see here, for the shadings (then the lightnings) that DragonsDungeon did use the kind of popular red shading (here transformed in reddish brown) from purple in dark and yellow/orange in light. Ofc it's harder than only that but it's what I can see in the skin, the green shading feels to me completely strange but works amazingly well so...
I think the best way to understand this kind of skin is to analyse with paint.net a large amount of these skin with beautiful complexe shadings.
