After the incident of ███ █████, the remainder of the human race had to retreat into the same caves they drove the ████ out of in the war of ████.

There was no way for them to return to the surface, as the ████ would occupy the region around the cave entrances for another ███ years. We assume that they were driven further into the caves out of necessity or fear. They soon learned to adapt to survive, which was presumably their only redeeming quality looking at their history prior to ███████. According to the recovered fossils however, evolutionary pressure decimated the population of the homo sapiens within about █ years. Surviving specimens evolved over the span of about █████ years. Their vision devolved, skin pigmentation was reduced to a minimum, their acoustic and olfactory senses improved dramatically and their skin hardened notably. When they were discovered in █████ by the ██, They were hardly human anymore. They culture and language, though primitive, were impressively coherent.

Regrettably homo conciderunt was not fit to live in the katafýgio. Their violent tendencies and subterranean physiology simply conflicted too harshly with our way of life.

We believe, if provided with knowledge, technology and resources they could rebuild a functioning civilization under ground within the next 100 - 200 years.

The ethics committee is currently deciding whether this would fall under the "experiments on intelligent lifeforms" clause of the extra-planetary research framework. Upon decision, this document shall be delivered to the m.i.s.t. , who is to prepare the necessary steps.
