This thing doesn't look like john... does it? This monster hardly looks like the John you heard of a long while ago... but in reality "he", or "it", actually never meant to represent a lost soul... and something that rather comes from some hellish realm. Maybe try not to get answers so quickly, or you might get caught in the abyssal hole you consider its "mouth(s)"
