Young Nick Craft used to be Freedom Force's biggest fan. One day, while following the team to watch them fight crime, he jump in front of the Minute Man, taking several bullets for his hero. On the verge of death, Nick was taken back to the Freedom Fortress and given a blood transfusion from Minute Man himself! Soon after waking, Nick Craft realized the transfusion had given him powers of his own! It took a lot to persuade Minute Man of his capabilities, but the new hero Liberty Lad soon joined the team as Minute Man's sidekick.
