ahh, to make blocky skins is really simple, for each colour in your skin you need 1 lighter shade and 1 darker shade. lets say if you were making the top of the head which would most oftenly be only one colour, you would make the centre and the top right and bottom left pixels the base colour, and for the very edges of the right and bottom would be your dark shade, and the rest of the top and left of the head would be your lighter shade, of course this would change if you had a part of the body that had more than one colour but i think you get the idea, look at some of my other blocky skins in their .png forms which you have to download to get the idea.
