The Templar Knights were an order of knights created with the purpose of protected Christian pilgrims. They were given the full blessing of the pope. They were exempt from all order, but that of the pope.
Terrowin always had believed strongly in the power of god, even since he was a young lad. Growing up, he had wanted to become a priest, but was forced into an apprenticeship for a knight by his father. He quickly became a very adept knight. He joined the army and rose the ranks. The battlefield seemed to be the perfect place for him. He soon caught the attention of some very important officials. He was very clearly spoken of his solid faith in god. When the Templars were assembled, he was one of the first to be chosen. Without hesitation he accepted. He was inducted immediately as a sergeant as shown by his brown mantle and black tunic.
He became very close to his comrades, and they all adored him. He had very entertaining stories to tell, and always knew how to get a good laugh out of them. In 1177 only 500 Templar helped several thousand infantrymen fight Saladin's army of more than 26,000 soldiers. They were extremely outnumbered and didn't seem to stand any chance against the massive army. However Terrowin was an expert commander. He told his men to believe that god could guide their blades and bodies as to not only survive, but win the battle. This is exactly what they did. The Templar faced losses, but many of Terrowin's comrades survived. He received special praise from the pope for his actions. He has been known as a hero ever since.
