The elite guard of the Cyning of Kiovna, The Guards of Life, were veterans of war campaigning and extremely disciplined fighters. Being the personal guard of the king,they were well paid, well fed, and were often unaffiliated with nobility and instead were picked out of skill and loyalty. Answering only to the king they protect him at all times and do as he wishes, such as enforce the arrest of ealdormans or dangerous individuals.
