Envy was a very normal goblin, the twin brother of greed, until he and six other adventurers went on a quest for Serak the Sinner's treasure. Each was cursed to harbor a sin, and the unfortunate goblin was afflicted by envy. He went blind as a huge eye opened on his chest. Now all he can see are the good qualities in others that he does not possess.
