How did he become this way? What made him change?

Before this whole "change" Tom was just an ordinary man, living an ordinary life, with a boring office job. He was doing his job, he got up to go outside and got jumped by two men in purple 3-piece suits with what appeared to be hockey masks...

Later, he woke up in a what appeared to be a low end apartment, as he woke up, he noticed all of the different things in his room, a very small tv, with a Playstation 3 and several games beside his nightstand. Everything looks very unlike his room from the wallpaper to the lamp. He dresses in the odd clothes that were on some hangers in the closet and walks out of his room to a very brightly colored room and pink shag carpet. all of the appliances look very old, and he sees several weapons on a wall to his left. He grabs a conveniently placed bowl of oatmeal on the counter, eats it quickly, grabs a weapon off the wall and goes outside to a new world. He sees a boy on a skateboard coming at him, so he jumps out of the way only to go 30 feet into the air. he then lands with a ground-pound and realizes what his surroundings are...he is in, Saints Row.

Explanation. When Tom was jumped he was actually beaten to death and drug into an alleyway and dumped into a dumpster. The men who jumped him, took his brain and hooked it up to a playstation to let his mind replay the game. What I didn't tell you is that Tom was a avid gamer at home. His wife had left him, because of his addiction to games, and he just confided in the games. The story I just told you is just a memory he is reliving. He will eventually die in the game, and just respawn and relive the whole beginning again. Sad, but more fun than just dying. He can continue to play the game after death forever.
