As the crunching of leaves beneath my boots penetrated my thoughts and the leaves overhead filtered the sunlight, turning the forest into a dim, shadowy land, I felt a small presence on my right shoulder.



“Cinno?”



I was snapped out of my thoughts as I heard my cinccino, Puff, ask me something.



“Yeah.. We’re kinda lost, Puff. Sorry.” I replied, ignoring Puff sigh softly before saying,



“Cinno, cin cincinno. Cincinno!” She said, annoyed. her voice trailed off with a worried “Cinno…”

After walking for about an hour, seemingly out of nowhere, an animated, tree-like pokemon appeared.  Curious, I scanned the plantlike pokemon in my pokedex, ignoring Puff, who was growling softly.



Trevenant, the Elder Tree Pokémon. A Ghost and Grass type, Trevenant is able to control trees. It traps those who cause harm to the forest and never lets them escape.



Once the Pokedex had finished speaking, the tall pokemon turned and motioned for me and Puff to follow.  Unnerved, I glanced at Puff, who shrugged, and so, I turned back to the tree pokemon and began to follow.

I was running, tears staining my cheeks, my sobs disrupting the once serene forest.  I heard the cries of my other pokemon, shouting their names as they tried to follow me. My sobs only grew louder as I remembered the horrible image of Puff being pulled away from me, shouting her name frantically as the Trevenant, who’d led us to it’s family, dragged her roughly through the bushes, away to an unknown place, with the other Trevenant keeping me from protecting my best friend.



I’d been able to escape them, however…



I found Puff in a clearing, shortly after, her body cold and unmoving. In the dim light, I could see her once lively eyes turned dull and unseeing.



The Trevenant were nowhere to be seen.



Once I finally decided to try and figure out where in the world I was, I realized that I was at an area me and Puff had been to before. I wiped the tears off my face, then I decided something. I walked, letting out a shaky sigh, to the edge of a cliff face me and Puff had discovered earlier.



I looked down.



I jumped.

I was wandering through the forest I had come to know as my home, when I stumbled across something quite odd.



There was a young human, wandering through the forest, accompanied by a small pokemon I recognized as a Teddiursa.



Silently, I stepped into his view, then motioned for him to follow.



The human hesitated for a moment before deciding that I wasn’t going to hurt them, and began to follow.



He reminded me of someone I may have known a long time ago…

Though I couldn't quite remember who.
