Alyssa grew up in the barren technology wastelands of future Chicago, born in the year 2260.
When she turned 6 years old, a virus spread throughout her city- but it didn't infect any people. Instead, it infected pieces of technology.

This virus would take over any and all instructive coding given to them, and rewrite it completely to accomplish two goals: expand technology and eliminate the human race.

Her parents, unfortunately working in the tech field at the time, were subjected to the horrifying concept of machines coming to life and going against their coding, which inevitably lead to their demise.

Alyssa's older brother, Romano, looked up to his parents quite a lot, naturally hoping to one day become a master of the technology field himself. When this virus outbreak occurred, he was doing what you'd always find him doing- taking apart his laptop to better understand the inner workings of the complicated machinery.

Just because the virus spread through technology, and not humans, that doesn't mean it can't affect humans.
In fact, that's exactly what happened to Romano. As he tinkered with his laptop's pieces and parts, an electrical, radioactive zap spread throughout his body, reaching his brain and doing what it does best- rewriting the "code" that makes up the actions of its victims.
Romano left his room, his feet patting against the cold concrete floor that made up their low-rent apartment, heading straight for Alyssa's room with a tiny metal piece of his inner laptop in hand.

"Lyss?" He called out softly, waiting for the answer of his younger sister. Her response led Romano to her antique dollhouse, where she was playing carelessly with her back turned to him.
With one swift strike of his hand, the metal piece was now lodged inside the right side of Alyssa's brain.
The metal piece began to radiate, expanding out as she cried in pain until half of her body was constructed of plastic and metal.
The metal side would intermittently take over her thoughts and actions, contributing to the unpunished crime in the glowing, dingy under-city.
13 years later, and the rest of her story begins.
