something i've always found myself struggling with, especially when i actively tried to become better at skinning is to improve my palettes. kinda fancy right? well developing that sense of color, like for myself, takes quite a bit of time. heck it even took months to actually understand that you can hueshift MORE, i feels dumb to have that not click months after. and now look at me, trying to become better with my palettes by tossing away the linear palettes. trying to stand out in any way shape or form is something ive been trying to chase. 2020 was the year i became what i can call myself "good."
palettes felt hit or miss more than meets the eye. they can feel too much leaning to a certain color, have too much contrast, have too little contrast, and other quirks to have a pleasing palette to the eye, especially if you are using more than like 10 colors to shade something. to be able to shade is nice, but palettes can take shading even further, i dare to say its apart of my shading style.
anyways, the skin is an attempt at trying to check all the required elements (even though you need 3 lol)
here is what actually made it into the skin:
- bow
- flower (under left ear)
- stripes (if you consider plaid stripes, you can also say shading is stripes)
- horns
- animal ears (woo woo cat ears)
- plaid (what a pain to shade)
- something checkered (fishnets, pattern on the shirt)
