Unlike enlisted men and NCOs, officer's of the Wehrmacht were required to supply their own uniforms. What this meant is that officer's could purchase the highest in uniform quality, keeping officer's uniforms relatively consistent in quality instead of the rapid decrease in quality that enlisted man's uniforms suffered.
