An unfortunate knight who conducted battle with a Wither, if he defeated the monster is unknown. But what is known, is he was badly injured during the fight that he contracted Withering. His face and arm began to deteriorate as a black substance festered upon his armor, he desperately sought out a witch to either reverse or suspend the damage ravaging his body.
The Witch seeing the knight was strong enough to either defeat or escape a Wither had other plans, she "promised" to reverse his effect. First she told the knight they must conduct a seance, so that they may speak to the dead to locate the herbs needed to end and heal the Withering, and that during the ritual he must state his soul is open to a vessel.
The knight, not realizing what was requested of him and being desperate, accepted and stated his soul is open to a vessel. After the seance is complete the witch cackles, "now you shall be my slave forever"! The knight shaken then yells, "What the hell do you mean? this wasn't the deal"!
Finally, a shadow rises up from behind the disturbed knight, as it flies into his body the Withering stops, but the knight is no more, for his soul was open for a vessel...
